Measurement of Volume of Body and Organ of Early chick Embryo by Serial Sectioning Technique of Tissue

Abstract
|
|
|
The authors measured the each cross sectioned area of serial sectioned chick embryo of 5 days incubation and calculated this experimental data with Simpson´s approximate integration to obtain the whole body volume and the results were obtained as followings.
1) Whole body volume of chick embryo of 5 days incubation was 31. 261mm³.
2) Measurement of body volume by serial sectioning technique was possible with 57 sections of tissue preparation under 1% of error to the body volume obtained with 913 sections of tissue preparation.
